“My feet feel so yummy in the sunshine!” She exclaimed. The strange words bubbled up and out of her with such natural feeling. This was one of the things that I loved so much about her. She was blessed with a sort of eternal youth, and these random outbursts were one of the ways it so endearingly manifested itself through the patchwork randomnesses of the most beautiful girl in the whole world.
We choose our future by how we live now. To have lived on this earth for so many years without being able to realize that is perhaps less a tragedy than having never learned it at all, but the struggle of coming to terms with the mistakes of the past is only too real. Still, I am only just a man, and though it would be awesome to be perfect, I am not. We do what we can with what we have. We move forward. We choose, if we can, to learn and grow, and we let those choosings and that growing happen as best we can.
A brief glance behind us reveals afresh the pain of a thousand foolish yesterdays. Even this can be beautiful in its own way, if we let it.
