Adventures in tolerating Minneapolis and its obsession with convincing the world of its own cultural relevance

I was listening to the radio this morning, and the DJ was commenting on today being the 30 year anniversary of Purple Rain. He was saying something along the lines of “If anyone ever asks you, ‘What is the Minneapolis sound, anyway?’ you just tell them to have a seat and pour them a drink and put on Purple Rain and say, ‘This.’

Now, mind you, I do enjoy this radio station, as they routinely play awesome music, which is incredibly, incredibly rare in radio, but this is  their one flaw, that they will also routinely contribute to the ongoing circle jerk that is Minneapolis congratulating itself on being just as relevant as Paris, Tokyo, and NYC (which isn’t actually the case, but is a common delusion within the MSP hipster set.

I guess I really don’t have much else to say about it right now, actually. The weather was pretty great today. I will probably come back and add to this later, I just need to spit it out there because I’ve basically been accumulating partial drafts of posts for the last month and I think I might have almost a million of them now.
