“I don’t care if the sun don’t shine, and I don’t care if nothing is mine…” ~ Syd Barrett

She gave me everything, and I was a fool. There is no way to change it. The only power we have in this life is the control over what we do with what we have now. Nothing in the past can be changed. Nothing in the future can be changed. Only now.

The beauty of it is that this power, even though it is what we are limited to, is absolute. So, essentially, we have power over everything and nothing all at the same time. Paul said that he had learned to be content in all things, whether in lack or in abundance. He had learned to do this. It does not come naturally, but it can be done, and once it is mastered then nothing can stop you.

The kingdom of heaven is like a tiny mustard seed that you take and plant in the field of your life. Planting stuff is work, but it can be fun, too, and after this particular seed has been planted, it grows to be a giant tree, and then you can have birds come and sit in your tree, and that’s awesome.

Someone posted something on Facebook today that said, “Don’t complain for twenty-four hours, and watch how your life starts to change.” I’ve been trying to do it. I keep having to start over because I find myself automatically complaining, and when it happens I realize just how ingrained this negativity has become. What I am finding, though, is that the Truth, even a tiny bit of it, once planted in the mind, begins to fan out and take over, and everything in that mind begins to change. It’s like any plant. It needs water, light, and it helps if you say nice things to it, but it does grow. This Truth.

Yikes. Time for bed.
